tech DotNetRocks!
Monday, October 17, 2005 at 12:25AM So last night I wound up at Philadelphia Community College for the Philly .NET Users Group meeting. User group leader Bill Wolff is a fellow MVP from the Philadelphia area, and I've been threatening for the last two years to show up to one of his user group meeting - when I found out that this one was being held all of a half-mile from my house, I really just had to show up. It was a pretty exciting meeting, since we had a visit from Carl Franklin and Rich Campbell on the Dot Net Rocks Roadtrip. Rich and Carl interviewed a few meeting attendees for a DotNetRocks broadcast after the meeting, and their first question to me was "Okay, you're an Active Directory engineer - what the yatz are you doing here?" (I think the audio feed is already up via streaming media.)
I actually really enjoyed the meeting, particularly since I had a 12-week crash course in C# and the .NET framework as part of a summer course in my graduate program and so I was actually able to follow along when Carl got very code-heavy in his presentation. I'm not a developer and I don't even play one on TV, but it's always interesting to get a broader perspective on the wide, wonderful world of Microsoftian goodness.
